  • We flew back yesterday from Ohio, to see Allen graduate from his residency program. Can’t believe he’s already been there for 7 years… and who knows for how much longer. Maybe forever? We are all very proud of him. He’s made quite a name for himself out there. Anyone would be lucky to have him be their family doctor or OB.

His new home is marvelous. It’s spacious and bright. Settled in a village (that’s what they call it) of just 500 some people, he drives about 15-20 minutes to the city for work. It’s so green there, lots of lush fields and trees. Some fields seem to go on for miles, some contain silos, others have white fences with horses or goats. Beautiful countryside landscapes. The pace of life there is slow and peaceful. It suits him very well.

After attending his graduation party Saturday night, he stopped the car by the side of the road and we caught 10 fireflies! That’s my kind of activity! If there ever is such a thing as a magical forest, I think we saw a glimpse of it that night. Hundreds of flickering lights all over the trees and the fields… amazing. I could have stood there and admired it for hours.

We watched so many movies there. I’m convinced I need something like Tivo now. I also bought grenadine and made myself many cups of Shirley Temple. Yummy.
