To celebrate, participating 7-Eleven stores across America will serve up 3 million free 7.11-ounce slurpee drinks in special “Happy Birthday!” cups to customers as long as the cups last.

Did you know that 7-Eleven began as an ice house in Texas? It’s true … a few weeks ago I heard an article about the history of the company on NPR. They began as an ice house, and the ice houses began serving beer as well, as it was the only place you could buy a “cold one”. Then they started selling other items that they would keep cold, like milk, eggs and meat. And it just went from there.
