  • Time sure does pass by fast. It’s already been 2 years since my Grandma passed away.

So our extended family met at Rose Hills yesterday to be together and to remember them. It was rather chilly up on the hill. But the company was warm. Each family shared about what has been some blessings as well as prayer requests. Then we’d surround the family and pray for each member. There were 4 families present, but we remembered to pray for the other 2 that are out of state. Towards the end of our time there, the cousins were huddled up so close. It was really heart warming. So I wonder what goes on in heaven. Do they see us? Do they know how much we still think about them? Well, they would have been so happy to know that we still get together as a family and love each other deeply.

We had dinner at a nearby Chinese restaurant. It was so nice to be able to sit together at the kids table. A tight fit but we managed. The soup was really yummy. How come our noodle platter didn’t sizzle like the parents’ platter did?

Last Saturday while rummaging through our garage for hidden things to sell, I found this. The envelope below contained Sam and I’s wedding invitation. I addressed it to them, “Grandpa and Grandma”. It must have been brought into the garage after their room was cleaned out. The little scribbles are my Grandpa’s writing; various drafts of a poem that he had written for us to bless our marriage. We sure do miss them.

  • i love that picture. when i see skies like that i think it’s God looking down through the clouds. or maybe it’s folks in heaven having a peek.

what a nice way to remember your grandparents. when i was in korea, we were lucky enough to be able to attend a memorial for my grandmother about two years after her passing. didn’t have as many cousins around but it was still nice.

its so great that you found your wedding invite and your grandfather’s poem drafts. it’s like a little snap shot of what he was thinking at that time. and he was thinking of you and sam’s happiness.

  • Grandmas and grandpas are special.

  • You should frame the poems.

  • That’s really sweet, a poem from your g-pa. My g-pa gave us paintings for our new home. We have them hanging up, and they’re beautiful. They’re personalized to us, too. He’s very talented, like yours! Glad you had a good time with the family.

  • RYC: yes that is okay, you can leave it at the door, maybe with a note saying its for me. I’ll let her know its coming, Thanks Judy!
