  • I took the day off today because I’m over accrued on my time-off hours at work.

So I took the opportunity to go see my optometrist, who’s a good friend from high school. Wow, he is so good at what he does. I never felt like optometrists were real doctors until I saw him. He took so much time to explain things to me. I’m not an easy patient b/c of my dry eye problems… something about some excavation (?)

He said he noticed the oil glands on my eyelids are all plugged up. He said, “You know how like when you see a pimple you really want to squeeze it? That’s what I feel like right now.” So he puts some drops in my eye:

J: Uh, what was that? It kinda stings.
    E: Just some anesthesia.
J: For what?! What are you going to do?
E: I’m going to unplug the oil glands. It’ll just hurt a little. Okay, hold onto these bars.

I felt like a prisoner staring out a prison cell.

So he takes this sharp instrument from a drawer  and start to scrape and press along the rim of my eyelids! The next few minutes felt like hours. I felt like I was sitting in a torture chair. But I know it’s for my own good. Hopefully they’ll feel better the next few days. (He doesn’t do this for his regular patients.)

On the way home, I dropped by Trader Joe’s. I love that store. I’m happy.. I’m watching Days of Our Lives and eating chocolate covered espresso beans.

  • i have dry eyes, too. but that’s probably mostly because of my contacts. wow, he scraped your eyelids? i have never heard of that before! how weird. tell us if it works, please!
last time i went to an eye doctor, he was pretty cool, too, explaining stuff to me. i felt weird because it feel really obvious that this guy was my age or younger. i had never been to a eye doc that was young before.
