  • When I was growing up in Taiwan, my parents would give us an allowance every week. I think it was 5NT. These are the 3 things I'd save up for:

    1) Colored rubber bands
    2) Preserved plums and other snacks
    3) Silkworms

It's Spring, the season for silkworms. Thanks to Ray, I now have 3 baby silkworms. And thanks to Enffie, they have fresh mulberry leaves to feast and grow on.

I think silkworms can be a form of therapy. Watching them eat is so soothing. They eat away a little at a time. But before you know it, a whole section of the leaf is gone. It reminds me of patience and persistence.

My Father-In-Law told me that there are people who save up their poop and drop it in hot water to make tea. Uh, no thanks.

    I've given them names:

    1) Cheeto. Lily thinks they look like white cheetos.
    2) Boxer, as in silk boxers.
    3) Kimono, as in silk kimonos. She aspires for her silk to go overseas.

But alas, they will probably just go in the trash can afterwards.

  • Tee hee. Have fun!

They look like mini-typewriters when they eat.

  • Oh, PS there's a mulberry tree in Snow Creek Park, on Grand Avenue. It's next to a little creek and you can't miss it. 1000s of little white unripe mulberries, in between a willow and a bunch of sycamore trees.
