  • calligraphyI'm going to start practicing calligraphy. I'm really excited. Something just for fun. Actually, a while back, I had wanted to be a professional calligrapher. I'm just amazed at how letters/words can become art.

I ordered a calligraphy book through Amazon a few weeks ago. It shows you how to write 100 different scripts, though many of them are pretty similar. So I tried practicing last night, with a regular pen though. Uh.... I have a lot of practicing to do. I'm already favoring some scripts over others. After work today, I'll be picking up some felt tip calligraphy pens. The 40% Michael's coupon came just in time. Sam had given me a real nice ink one back in college... but I no longer know its whereabout. How sad.

It really is like drawing right now. Kind of feels like I'm back in grade school learning how to write cursive or something. I think need lined paper. I can't wait till it becomes a reflex... the degree in slant, the curves, the extra frills, the thickness, the turn of the pen...

I want to write a love letter in romantic calligraphy with a quill on parchment paper, roll it up, tie with a bow.
Maybe Amy will let me address her wedding invitations when that day comes.

  • My friend's sister addressed all her wedding invitations for her last summer and they came out really nice!!  It would save a lot of money if you were able to do the calligraphy for her. :)

  • hey! before i got to reading the end, i was thinking about you doing invitations. haha. well, you usually make my invitations anyways. i like your writing already, even without the calligraphy. remember when you tried doing it for your wedding invitations?

  • you are soo cute!  i've always wanted to learn too but my letters always end up different sizes.  tee hee

  • hehe wanna do our wedding invites?

  • i learned calligraphy in like.. 5th grade! its hard, and the pens they gave us were really crappy. they were like old and rusty. and sometimes tehre wasnt enough black ink, so we had to write in brown.

  • I just bought a some quill pens yesterday. I have to practice my "Secretary" script and my "Italic" script for the Renaissance Faire. I've been practicing a mix of the two since last may. My entire journal is written in that script. Fun. Fun. Try taking BSF notes in calligraphy. Nuts!

  • you could do a love poem and tie with a bow for your husband valentines gift.

  • that is so cool, to learn a new skill. you should get a candle wax/stamp thingy too.

  • Anything you pronounce can be amazing it is what I reflect
