  • So, I went to the gym last night for that "groove" class. Oh my goodness, there were SO many people at the gym. It was so packed, all these sweaty people pounding their bodies into shape. I was intimidated. I didn't know exercising was such a normal thing to do for so many people.

I got there at 8:15 and waited for the class to start. There weren't as many people as I thought there'd be. But I think I know the reason why. The instructor wasn't excited enough and was sometimes hesitant about certain moves. It kind of annoyed me that she'd teach us a routine, but it seemed that everytime she'd go over it again, the steps were on a different count. Nonetheless, it was still pretty fun and now I have "Sexy Love" stuck in my head. It was nice to not be sedentary for a whole hour, and moving to music at that. So pretty much we learned a short routine for part of the chorus and then we just "groove" and do our own thing during the other parts of the song. I think I might go back, or try the pilates class.

I left at 9:30 and there were still TONS of people there and people still walking in. Wow.

  • Guess what? Sam and I signed up for gym membership! They had a pretty good promotion going on otherwise we would have never joined. I already feel all healthy just having a membership alone. I hope I'll put it to good use, especially since it's so close to home.

Sam looked up some classes for me on-line, there's some "Groove" class this Wednesday night, so maybe I'll go to that. It's like a dance exercise thing so that it wouldn't seem like work. I'm so excited!

Sam said to me a while back, that if I'm healthy and fit enough, he'd take me to South America to see the Mayan and Inca ruins. Some of those places require some hiking to higher elevations. I don't do well in those conditions. So I'm really excited. I hope he remembers. This post is a good reminder for him. I want to see those pyramid things with the steps! I've been enchanted with them since seeing pictures in high school.

Here is a picture of Machu Picchu. How beautiful. People used to live there...

  • I've been totally wrapped up watching a Korean soap opera on DVD, My Girl. I had gotten it through eBay for a pretty good price. From the manufacturer, they said. Yeah, right! Is that why disc # 4 doesn't even play and has a crack? Ahhhh! I need to see what happened on disc 4!!

What's with the men's haircut? Well, despite that, the main character is so cute. He has truly grown on me. I was watching it last night and realized, "Hey, something about this guy remind me of Sam!" Wow! I often think someone looks like someone else or something else, and Sam usually can't see what I'm talking about. I just have a good eye, that's all! So, of course, he thinks I'm nuts this time. Whatever. He should be flattered.

He started calling me "Nong Shim" yesterday. Just because it's a Korean word and I'm all into this soap opera. I thought, "What does that mean? Shim... sounds like 'heart' in Chinese. Aw, that's sweet." Turns out it's a brand of Korean shrimp snacks!

Nongshim-ShrimpCracker   Well, it is pretty tasty stuff...

  • Sam found this link this weekend of a cute little girl singing. She is so expressive!! I don't know how many times we watched this clip. Sam cracks up every time at the 45th and 46th second. So cute!

Yesterday we had a children's ministry workshop. Children are created to worship, just like us. This ministry is so important, they're taking in so much at this early age. How wonderful to grow up knowing that God cares for us and we can turn to Him in any circumstance.

We learned The Laughing Song yesterday... so fun! Could make for a good vocal warmup song.

    Ha-ha-ha-lelujah
    Ho-ho-ho-hosana
    He-he-he-he saves me
I've got the joy of the Lord!

Baby Hannah had her baby dedication two Sundays ago. So we sang "Jesus Loves the Little Children" in the worship set. Yesterday, Frances relayed this message to me from Rachel (4 years old): "I wish Auntie Judy would sing 'Jesus Loves the Little Children' again."

I was so surprised and happy to hear that. I never thought the kids were listening during the service. But they are. They also learn by watching what worship looks like and that it can be really fun to praise God!

Congrats to Freda and Rob on their first baby boy, Christopher! A month early, but doing well! I get to see them tonight! Yay!

  • St Patty's Day... I remember back in school, we were so into "Are you wearing green today?" If not, then *pinch*. Some people would even go and get grass stains on their jeans or draw on their hand with a green marker to escape the pinch. That's funny.

In honor of St Patrick's, I'm wearing green today, even though it's really tomorrow. Also using Irish Creme Coffeemate creamer. Good stuff!

Click here to get a coupon for a FREE NestlĂ© Coffeemate creamer (up to $3.99 in value). Liquid creamers are the way to go!

I get to leave at 3 today! Weeee! Our company said that we should all go home and have dinner with our families. I like that!

  • It's a happy birthday week!

Happy belated birthday to Jongni (yesterday)! You are one of the most godly and genuine women I know. Hannah is so blessed to be your daughter.

Happy birthday to Jennifer, today! You are one of the most empathetic and beautiful person I know. Cedrick the gnome will travel with you to the ends of the earth.

Happy early birthday to Wayne (3/19)! You are one of the friendliest and easy-to-warm-up-to person I know. So good talking to you today.

3 cheers to friends and growing another year older with you!

  • Aw, we're going to lose an hour this weekend.  Don't forget to spring forward. It's odd how losing an hour can somehow really mess up my internal schedule for the next few weeks.

I finished reading The Stolen Child, playing off the ancient folk legend about changelings. It was really good! I stayed up till 3 am this morning trying to finish it. I have a green cloth covered notebook that I write in after I finish reading a book. I started recording in it in 2001. It's like a book report, to help me remember what I read. Otherwise, it so quickly leaves me. I usually just write a page, but this time I wrote two! I love flipping through this little notebook, such a treasury of stories and characters.

The one I'm reading now is a short novel called Miss Lonelyhearts, first published in 1933. I got it used through Amazon. It was supposed to be in "very good" condition but it's all marked up inside! I don't like novels all marked up! Underlines and circled sentences and stars next to paragraphs.  This might have been what the three little bears felt when they found that somebody had been eating their porridge!

It's about a newspaper reporter assigned to write the agony column, like a male "Dear Abby". He answers questions with trite, hopeful cliches. But in reality, he is hardly better off than his readers. It's supposed to be a satire on American decay. This actually kind of feels like one of those books we used to read in English classes.

  • I took the day off today because I'm over accrued on my time-off hours at work.

So I took the opportunity to go see my optometrist, who's a good friend from high school. Wow, he is so good at what he does. I never felt like optometrists were real doctors until I saw him. He took so much time to explain things to me. I'm not an easy patient b/c of my dry eye problems... something about some excavation (?)

He said he noticed the oil glands on my eyelids are all plugged up. He said, "You know how like when you see a pimple you really want to squeeze it? That's what I feel like right now." So he puts some drops in my eye:

J: Uh, what was that? It kinda stings.
    E: Just some anesthesia.
J: For what?! What are you going to do?
E: I'm going to unplug the oil glands. It'll just hurt a little. Okay, hold onto these bars.

I felt like a prisoner staring out a prison cell.

So he takes this sharp instrument from a drawer  and start to scrape and press along the rim of my eyelids! The next few minutes felt like hours. I felt like I was sitting in a torture chair. But I know it's for my own good. Hopefully they'll feel better the next few days. (He doesn't do this for his regular patients.)

On the way home, I dropped by Trader Joe's. I love that store. I'm happy.. I'm watching Days of Our Lives and eating chocolate covered espresso beans.

  • Look, square watermelons!

  • I was over-joyed this weekend after hearing from a dear friend how her parents have finally accepted her fiance and their engagement.

It's been many many heart-wrenching years, full of tears, worries, denials, and struggles. It felt like choosing between family and her significant other. And miracle of miracles, they finally broke down after her tearful confession and said, "If he makes you happy, then so be it. So where's the wedding? What's going to happen? Who are your bridesmaid? We should invite him over for dinner..." God has heard our prayers. Their words and their actions are a total 180. She wonders if it's just a big joke because it's just too good to be true.

I about cried at hearing the news and am so excited for them! The couple and the family. We all desire the acceptance of our parents. And them planning for the wedding without her parents' blessings was eating her up. Even with an ulcer to show. So now it's time to charge forward and get everything done. And with a BIG smile on our faces!

We had our similar share of drama so I was able to relate to her through the years. But now my Parents love Sam to death. They'll even call him up to talk to him. When he can't go over for dinner with me once a week, they miss him. It's really sweet, it makes me happy.

We're both very fortunate to have wonderful in-laws that treat us like their own children. It's not just on the surface, but we feel and know that they love us deeply. "DEEEEEPLY", as Pastor Gaw would say. And we in return. Praise God for that.
