  • There's an Indian contractor on our team. He's super smart, fast, and has good manners.

He sits next to me. But when I turn to talk to him, while sitting in my chair, he'll stand up. Then I feel like I need to stand up, but I don't. I want to tell him, "It's okay, you don't need to stand up."

Today he sent me an email and he put a smiley, I don't know... it's amusing. He has old traditional manners and uses modern smileys.

They are taking over... our company's using them for a lot of our IT roles. It's hard to compete... we ask for a list of skill sets and the next day they provide the perfect candidate. And they're cheaper. The only thing is that they might be hard to understand at times.

So I find out in July if I still have a job. July, my 9th year anniversary with the company.

Another re-org. I think I'll be okay... but you never know. It's always about the bottom line --> $$$. I'm afraid for our IT team. They are superb. They're starting to get their resumes in order...

  • we outsource alot of our production work to a team in india. they do everything at lightening speed. i'm pretty sure someone will figure out that they no longer need us. :P

  • Hopefully, you'll be okay and still have a job, but even if not, I'm sure it won't be hard to find a new one.

  • I know you're good at what you do. If I were your employer, I'd keep you (and give you a raise)! =)

  • yikes. bottom line is tough to beat.

  • lol. we need to work harder. 9 years is a long time =)

i want a new job. just heard my friend, a year older than me is making close to $100K a year. she dosen't have to support her family like i do.  feel so behind =P but from another perspective, thank God for showing me that I can do more and make more!!!

  • I work for an online company and we also outsource a lot of our work to India. I've been with the company for over 7 years, so I feel somewhat secure, but you never know. A year ago, we only outsourced a few positions, but now, we have about 20 or so employees in India.

Sometimes I wonder if it'd be worth it to personally hire someone in India to do my work for me so that I can slack off at work more often? :)
