Month: August 2007

  • As you might remember, I had a surgery on my left index finger about 2 months ago to remove some excess joint tissues, aka synoviums. (Too much of it will eat away at your cartilage.) The doctor never promised that it wouldn't grow back. But I haven't even healed from the surgery yet and it's already growing back.

I was hoping that maybe it was a mosquito bite. But alas, no.

I put a band-aid over it so I wouldn't have to look at it.

I feel... like a wilted piece of cabbage leaf.

  • Pet Peeve of the Day

When someone comes by my desk to talk to me but instead of looking at me to talk, they're looking at my computer screen to see what I'm doing. It's none of your business. This is similar but definitely less annoying/offensive than elevator eyes (where people look you up and down); both very intrusive.

If you want to look, then learn to be discreet! There was a girl at work that used to always look me up and down... she'd even move her head along with her eyes. All the while she is conversing with me just 2 feet away. I felt so violated. (No, she is not into girls. She just liked to check out what other girls are wearing.)

  • thought bubbleSometimes I wish I could see bubbles over people's heads. And inside the bubbles would be their thoughts... but in picture. (It takes too long to read words.) Imagine being in a room full of people all with thought bubbles like TV screens. This is definitely an infringement of privacy. I'm sure this might get certain people into trouble... and maybe I will see things I don't want to know about... but sometimes I'm just really curious, you know.

Haha... just found an example of thought bubbles... uh oh...

  • There are some funny t-shirts on this website, http://www.threadless.com.

You just lost our staring contest.

    Haikus are easy
But sometimes they don't make sense
    Refrigerator
(This one reminds of Andres, haikus and randomness.)

If you can read this make me a sandwich.

There's a t-shirt w/ a hostess cupcake trying to jump while a broccoli and carrot are swinging a jump rope. The name of the shirt is "skip dessert". Very cute but I don't believe in the message.

Pickles are cucumbers soaked in evil.
(Sorry, Jane, but this is the truth!)

  • Do you ever just say lame things that don't make sense? They just slip out of your mouth so fast.

    At the movie concession stands:

Cashier: Thanks and enjoy the movie.
    Judy: Thanks, you too.

    Wrong Number:

    Stranger: Hi, is Maria there?
Judy: Oh, you've got the wrong number.
    Stranger: Thanks.
    Judy: Sorry.

"Sorry"? I guess I was expecting her to say sorry but I ended up saying it instead.

  • It was so weird at work on Thursday... I heard two of my co-workers sitting close to me talking and talking for a long time so I look over and they both had people sitting with them at their desks. They were transitioning their own jobs over to them. A group of contractors recently flew in from India to do the knowledge transfer.

    It all feels so weird.

But we are all very capable people and I know that we'll all land on our feet. The big projects are all over so I guess there's not going to be much action here anyway. We got together as a group last week for happy hour and toasted to brighter futures. Onward to bigger and better things!

P.S. I can now wrap my index finger around the steering wheel!
P.S.S. I just finished watching a Korean drama. It was SOO depressing!! My eyes are puffy from crying. They are like roller coasters for your emotions.

(Ahh! It's so late, I'm going to pay for it tomorrow.)

  • On food...

Have you ever sat and watched someone you love eat something really delicious? It can make you more happy than eating it yourself.

Sometimes the same food or drink just doesn't taste the same when the person you used to share it with is gone. Jennifer, I will miss our morning cup of coffee. I will have to come visit you in Switzerland!

    I had a tasty-food-day all day Wednesday.

  • I checked out a CD at the library just a while ago. I was so happy I found it, so I was looking at it on the way out and ended up tripping on a step. I think I sprained my ankle. So mad at myself!

I've been meaning to tell you, my job's been outsourced. I guess the likelihood of that in corporate America nowadays, especially in the IT or IS department, is pretty high. Well, off to India it goes.

But I'm okay with it. Actually, I'm quite excited for what's to come and the new opportunities that this will bring. It's so easy to get comfortable where you're at, you know. Can you believe it, the last time I updated my resume was 2002! And interviews... those are rarely fun.

Well, something is in the works right now and I'm really looking forward to see how it develops. Will keep you posted.
