If one blog isn't enough, I'm now going to be blogging FOR work!
Being in this department has opened up new opportunities for improving communication and use of our trade system. So I get to be the blogger to communicate to our sales force. When they pitched the idea to me, I was all for it. Hopefully work blog will be just as fun as non-work blog. Hopefully I can frame it in a way that will be meaningful and non-boring at the same time. Hmm… maybe I will run some contests later on! And maybe I can help analyze one of the winner's accounts as prize. I couldn't sleep the other day b/c I was thinking of what I can do. If you have any other good ideas to get people to read, please send them my way.
Ah, it's so nice to be excited for work.
So now I'm supposed to come up with a witty name for the blog, but I can't think of anything yet. Time to get witty.

I miss toothpaste.
I'm in Palm Springs right now (so amazed I can log in to xanga on my work computer!!)... and I forgot my toothpaste!! I don't know if I dreamed this but I read somewhere just last week that some celebrity doesn't use toothpaste to brush her teeth. Instead, she brushes w/ strawberries. When I read that I was like, "??!!!". But this helpful/detrimental thought popped into my head in the nick of time.
I've always loved the dessert table, but now I'm even more thankful.
I don't think I have bad breath... maybe everyone is being kind or maybe strawberries are ok for brushing? It's hard though b/c I just want to chew and swallow it instead.
Anyway, I can't wait to go home and use real minty toothpaste and hang out w/ S.
I wish you a happy teeth brushing experience today. -
Today's my Mom's birthday. Happy birthday, Ma!
Over dinner I asked her how she used to celebrate birthdays as a child. She said she didn't. How sad. "Did someone say 'Happy Birthday' to you? Like maybe Grandma?" No. I guess birthdays just weren't big things back then... until you're old or if you were more westernized.
Dad said that on their birthdays Grandma would boil just the celebrant one egg. They would have to go and eat it quietly in the corner so not to tempt others. Eggs were a luxury. I asked Mom if they did the same thing. But since they had a chicken farm, eggs weren't anything special. Haha.
If only they had known each other then my Mom could have given my Dad some eggs! And then my Dad could have gone over with his guitar and sang her "happy birthday"!
Our birthdays are pretty low key but always celebrated. I still remember a barbie cake that they let me pick out. She stood up and her full skirt was the cake. It was amazing. My parents know how to make us feel special. -
I've been listening to a lot of Korean music from those drama soundtracks. I can recognize some words here and there and that makes me happy. However, all this foreign stuff is also kind of frustrating b/c I want to know what they're trying to say. So I decided to borrow some Mandarin CDs from the library. Oh!! It's so nice to understand!!
I've been listening to Wang Leehom's Forever Love on repeat b/c:
1) I understand the majority of the lyrics
2) I love the bridge part from around 3:55
3) The sentiments are so sweet, so romantic! Things like:
- I need to cherish our days to come
- I want to study your smile each day
- I want to spend my whole life loving you
- From this day forward, you will be my reason for happiness (okay this is really sweet... but this is way too much responsiblity for any one person)
Ahhh, I want someone to write me a love song!!
Back in college, I used to come back from class and would discover anonymous love poems slid under my door. Sometimes there'd be a flower somehow taped or tied to the door. This went on for a while, it was fun! However, the person eventually revealed himself and ... became a stalker. The feelings were not mutual, please go away!
Now, who is there whom I have mutual feelings for that can write me a love song? Hmm... -
I have reached a new level of Korean drama addiction.
It started with one drama. One episode after another. Then one drama after another. Through there I became infatuated with a singer/actor, Rain. Then I wanted to learn Korean. You can even find a simple Korean/English dictionary in my bag.
Then I started watching this new drama. But in the middle of nowhere, whoever was loading them online with the english subs stopped! So I either have to pay or don't watch the rest. I don't like either option. But guess what I found? The same drama but with Spanish subtitles! (Palacio Imperial)
So that's where I'm at. Whoever thought a Taiwanese girl who speaks English would be watching a Korean drama with Spanish subtitles. Hey, but I'm doing pretty good! Jose, you must be so proud of me! I've watched 3 episodes like this so far and I think I'm getting all the main points. S laughed at me really hard and I know some of you are probably shaking your head at me. Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous. But I like it.

Anyone remember that there used to be some kind of chicken or duck or goose farm off the 605 between the 60 and the 10?
You can't miss it because you smell it! A foul fowl smell, hehe. Everyone would be like, "Ugh, sick, roll up the windows! Ugh, gag." or "Put the air on recycle! Smells!" But instead, I'd roll down the window and take a big whiff.
Because it reminds me of when I was young. My uncle used to own a chicken farm. So that smell reminds me of being on the chicken farm and running around on that spacious land. We used to ride our cousin's tricycle there, hunt for frogs, get excited at seeing baby chicks, bake potatoes under ground, watch for water striders in their pond...
It's interesting but there were other relatives that owned other animal farms! Rabbit farms, pig farms, I think even a cow farm. All very stinky... but great memories.
I don't know why I just wrote this. -
When I use certain items at home, I think of the person that gifted it.
Today I want to thank Lily for giving us the creme brulee set for our wedding (almost 5 years ago).
Thought I don't recall actually making creme brulees, the torch has come in handy many times.
It has zapped many spiders who dare show itself in our house.
We've even got a few flies with it.
It's helped start fires for BBQs, lit some candles, etc.
Today S toasted me a marshmallow on a skewer. He's so smart.
I felt like I was at the beach or camping in the mountains.
Here's a funny marshmallow comic strip...
