Do your parents go to bed at the same time?
If you're married, do you and your spouse go to bed at the same time?
Growing up, everyday I'd see my parents go to sleep together. After dinner, we'd eat fruit, then we'd sit in the living room. My dad might play some guitar, water his fruit trees, tell us some jokes, maybe he'll cook some peanuts. My mom would wash the dishes, read the newspaper, and we'll go do our homework. We'll watch TV upstairs and they'll watch TV downstairs. Sometimes my dad will watch the TV and sometimes the TV will watch him (zzzzz). But at the end of the day, they'll turn off the TV and they'll go up to their room together.
So I thought that's what married people do. But I found after getting married that the "norm" or what I thought was the "norm" was what I was exposed to. From sleeping schedule to eating schedules to house chores to talking late on the phone to… Every couple lives differently and that's okay.
When we first got married, we went to sleep at the same time. We'd lay in bed and chat and fall asleep. It was nice. But then eventually we ended up going to sleep at very different times. Me, around 10:30 pm - 12:30 am. S, 3:00 am - 5:00 am. Yes, he's completely crazy and on some other time zone.
So now when I go to sleep I announce, "I'm going to sleep now!" And then he'll come over and hang out with me for 5 minutes and tuck me into bed while I try to stall. Sometimes on the weekends I'll try to stay up as late as I can so that we can go to sleep at the same time. If he tells me, "I'm tired today, I'm going to sleep early", early like 2:30 am, then I get all excited.
Even if he konks out as soon as his head hits the pillow. It's nice to hear him breathing next to me.

We get ready for bed and sleep at the same time. I love those pillow-talk nights. Sometimes we have to control ourselves and say, "OK, really, we have to sleep now. No more talking!" =)
Plus, "bedtime" activities are fun, hee hee!
my parents went to sleep together unless one wasn't feeling well or was really tired. most of the times, meanie and I do go to sleep together but some days we don't. One wouldn't be tired, one took a nap, one's not feeling well but overall, we would go together. I used to have crazy sleeping hours like S but ever since I got married, I've been going to sleep at a more normal time (midnight to 3am) lol!
josh is the early one, and i'm the late one to bed. he always wants me to spend time with him, putting him to bed, talking. i need to watch tv, read or do something until i'm exhausted. i hate lying awake waiting for sleep.
i don't remember how it was for my parents, but these days my father is early to bed, my mother the late one.
Hubby and I go to bed at the same time. I think it's just a habit we formed. It's important to sleep before midnight tho. I was told that that's when your body heals itself.
hmmm so sam DOES sleep.
i usually fall asleep on the couch while Chilly watches tv shows and then we go upstairs to wash up to get ready for bed. Since i took the nap, I'm usually wide awake late at night while he plops and falls asleep right away. I need to refrain from taking naps!
how sweet! I used to announce to my parents that I was going to sleep too, just so they could tuck me into bed with a hug and a pat on the head. Sometimes when I still announce it... =D!
3:00 - 5:00am? - That's amazing!
Ting, you are so romantic!! Sam is very lucky that he married you!! Yes, I think he needs to sleep more and sleep with you!! I can't go to bed, until the kitchen and dinner is washed, cleaned up, while Ed tucks Jacob in and try to wait for me, but he tends to sleep around 8:30-9pm. But he's been pretty good about sleeping at the time when I'm going to bed, around 11-12am. Have a great weekend!
my parent never go to bed at the same time so in a way i want to do the opposite. BL waits for me to go to bed but he usually just past out before me cuz he couldn't wait for me to finish my10th Bejeweled game..haha.
