  • We went to an LA Loves charity event at the Spider Club last night. The dress code was "Hollywood Hip". We were like, "??" I had to dig around my closet to find something suitable. I guess Hollywood Hip can be interpreted widely so we fit in just fine. A lot of girls were wearing little dresses though, it's too cold for that right now. I went for the more uh… warm Hollywood Hip.

S said, "With you on my arm, I'll be hip." Ahahahah! Where does he get these lines lately? I love it. Anyway, it was not our typical crowd.

LA Loves is a non-profit organization that uses art and education to bring awareness and emotional connection to current justice issues. Yesterday's event was dedicated to the sexual exploitation of children. I never knew how big a problem it was… here in America! I don't remember all the statistics given, but they were astounding and sickening. There was a silent auction and some musical performances. Kendall Payne sang "Touch". Wow, what an intense and sad song. The words and her expressive voice was so heart-wrenching. It made me want to cry.

All this is volunteer work from those who have a passion to make a difference with what they're good at. Seeing people doing stuff like this reiterates a desire within me to want to do something this year. For a cause to be passionate about, something that makes a difference… and I don't mean sudoku and Korean dramas. Not sure what it is just yet though…
