So we're packing up our old family home. We lived there for almost TWENTY years! Just a couple of weeks ago, they repainted the interior and exterior so it's more pleasing to the buyer's eyes. I went to grab something by the cupboard yesterday and noticed that all the marks on the wall where we measured each of our height through the years... all gone.
I was in the sixth grade when our family moved in. Lots of growing joys and growing pains in that house.
So I was about to give away two stuffed animals that Sam had given me when we were dating. I saved all but those two, one was faded and one was too normal looking. Yesterday he saw them in the "give away" pile and rescued them. He looked so cute marching into the room with both of them under his arms. "I'll save you guys." Wahahaha! I guess we will be keeping them.
This reminds me of the time I threw away a stuffed animal my dad had brought home for each us. It was dusty and old, so I put it inside a plastic bag and into our trash bin. Good thing my dad wasn't home or he might feel bad that we're throwing away something he gave us. But when I went downstairs that night, that bear had broke out of the plastic bag and crawled out the trash can. And it had situated itself on the sofa, looking straight at me!
Ahhhh!
We're having a garage sale tomorrow. Never have done one before, so we don't know how to price things. Hopefully we can get rid of most of the stuff and make something back to help with the house renovation.

hey jooody.. even if its your first garage sale, don't act like it! otherwise people will swindle you out of your money
aww, our height marks!
and haha, sam is funny!
baba saved yours. i remember that. hehe. "still good!"
aw cute!
i never had a garage sale either. shoudl be fun, though! price things a dollar to two if you really want them to go. you can always mark down, or put up a 1/2 price sign later in the day. did you put an ad in the paper? you might get too many people that way, but you'll be done faster!
cute story!
awww.... so sad to be moving. all those memories.
that's so sad to be moving out of the house you've lived in for so many years. good luck with the garage sale!
aww thats so cute!! funny..i cant imagine sam doing that, but it has been a looooooong time since ive seen u guys=D
hey did you guys move in to that neighborhood before or after we did? I have some memories of that house.. and hanging out with Chris on Tarta Ct.
It's always so hard to decide what to part with and what to keep. It's funny because you we start to realize that on some things, we aren't the only ones with memories attached to them. Was it your dad that put the bear on the couch?
isitgknEEwong: yes, my dad was the one who found the bear and brought it back into the house!
what was he doing digging in the trash can?
I felt the same way when my parents moved out of our old home. Especially the wall where the measurements were marked ... T.T
i didn't know that you guys are moving. how sad...i was there and slept there when we were young. bye bye house.
sad to hear about the house. im sure youll take pictures of the "little things." .... xoxoxo
oh yah, and mommy didnt use any japanese while she was on vacation. she did say "sumimasen" a lot though.
My parents have lived in the same house since I was born so I've never had the feeling of packing everything up like that. It must be really difficult.
I know how you feel! I remebered being sad when we sold our apartment in Taiwan that I grew up in. For the first few years, when I went back to Taiwan, I would ask my mom to take me to the neighborhood just to remeber.
hello judy, i will try my very best to not be the ones who are scary to see =)
