  • The ongoing drama that is my eye…

I had my follow-up visit with the nice Opthamologist today.
My left eye has been going back and forth this past month. Blurry. Not blurry. Blurry. Not blurry.

The bad news is that my right eye is catching up to my left. So now they're both really dry. The left one probably went first because my left tear duct is bigger than the right. Anyway, he plugged them up again today. (The plugs self-dissolve in a month.)

So I have to be better with using rewetting drops regulary. I guess I've just grown used to the general dry feeling.

After drops, gels, warm compresses, fish oils, and medication… if none of those seem to work then I need to try more things like changing my environment. He suggested I get a humidifier for home and another for the office. That's actually a pretty good idea. My eyes feel fresh in the shower so I can see how that could help. I hope my co-workers won't walk by and say, "Why is it so humid around here?"

Anyone know of a good, quiet, reasonably priced humidifier?

  • the moist air in the shower is good for you! :)  take longer showers. :)

if only i could invent for you some sort of cool eyewear where the air around your eyes will always be moist!!

  • think about Lasik.  My eyes were dry when i wore contacts.

  • curious to know why he plugged the ducts.  isn't that how the eye is lubricated?

sorry so biologically illiterate.must be difficult for you.

  • @deadkau - our tear ducts actually drain excess tears. that's why when we cry our nose get runny... we're blowing out tears. plugging them up will hopefully keep the moisture on the eye as much as possible.

  • @fiveup - well, there's this goggle thing that restores moisture by increasing humidity around the eye. but you can't see when you're wearing these. maybe for nightime wear. eddie sent me the link.

  • ah, thank you for explaining.

the drain is too big for the faucet then, no?  ;p

  • thank you for the yummy xanga chicken soup!

  • I fixed it.  so there are flowers now.
