  • I went to see my opthamologist today. I was contemplating all week if I should cancel b/c I haven't been using my eye drop medication. I didn't want to waste his time and didn't want to get in trouble. My friends are like, "What's so hard about putting in eye drops?" I'm just a slacker. The eye drops are in the fridge so I have to go there. And then when I put them in, I have to close my eyes and pinch the insides of my eyes for 5 minutes. Do that twice a day. And it's just… a bother. "So you rather have dried up eyeballs?" Well… no…

But to my surprise, he was still nice to me. Have I told you how much I love this doctor? He is the best! Not that he didn't scold me… but that I know he's always looking out for my best interest. He thinks outside of the box and doesn't give up and say, "Sorry, that's it for you". I don't know how he remembers me when I only see him a few times a year, but he asks me about my job, my family… I'm not in and out in 5 minutes. He'll spend as much time as he needs to, explaining things to me. I can go on and on about how great a person he is. Anyway, doctors like that are rare. I wish I could give him a gold medal.

He plugged up the tear ducts again on my left eye. This left eye has been a real bugger these few days. I can see clearly though! Oh, how I love clear vision! But I feel like there is constantly something in my eye. They've both been crazy red these past few days. I look like someone from a horror movie. Still, that does not stop me from watching Korean dramas.

I am turning over a new leaf. I will start using the eyedrop medication again starting today!

  • Good job, Juiru!  Just think of those 5 minutes as a time to shut your eyes and relax!

  • perhaps you can try doing this in the morning and at night before going to bed.  if your husband gets up first, he could bring you your drops and you can apply them before you get up.

  • hehe you remind me of the Friends episode when Rachel refused to put eye drops in her eye so the rest had to hold her down to put the drops in.

  • You're lucky to have such a great doctor, unfortunately there aren't too many that take the time to establish a relationship with their patients. Take care of your eyes!  They're all you get, unless you prefer a glass one.  Or maybe you want to look like a pirate with a patch one day. hahahaha  AAAhhhh who am I to talk, I'd probably slack off like you. hahaha

  • hope you feel better!  =)

eyedrops in the fridge?  the coldness must sting a little?....

  • ooooh i love ophthalmology. what kinda drops are you on? restasis? doesn't it burn?

  • @batmanbrain - yes, you're right. restasis! it does sting/burn in the beginning. but this time when i went to see him, the dr said that though clinical study shows an effectiveness on more users, newer studies have show only it to be effective on 20%. =( and then even w/ that, they're not sure how long someone should use it for... well, i see him again in a few months... so we'll see if things get better.

  • i see commercial for restasis!  eeps, crazy.
    take care of your eyeballs!
i'm so selfish, i want you to see the beautiful me in our old age!
