Don't you love being welcomed home?
We used to do that with our Dad. When we hear the garage door open, we knew it was him. So we'd run to the door and open it for him. Then we'd see him coming out of his car, and we'd excitedly call out, "Baba!". He always had a smile for us, even if he look dead tired sometimes. I think I did this up until I moved out when I got married.
Our garage is too cluttered to park a car but S parks in a designated spot right in front of our place. I know he's home when I hear metal go *ka-lunk-kunk*. It's the sound of his car driving over this man-hole-like-cover thing. Before he's out of the car, I'm already peeking out the blinds from upstairs. I'd see him getting his stuff from the back seat or hear him talking on the phone... then he'd start to stroll in and I will whistle at him like a construction worker.
Too bad he can't hear my car driving in. But sometimes when I open the door and say "I'm home!", he'll come down to find me or call out "Welcome home!" It's nice to be acknowledged; to know someone is happy you're home.

hahah! yeah at my old house when i came home, my dog would run out.
now she doesnt have access to the garage so she sits by the sliding door.
my rats greet me every time i walk by. they jump and climb to the top of the cage to kiss me on the nose.
when i have an "S," i'm gonna say "oh, it's you again..." when he comes home.
jk of course. i hope he does the same for me.
it is nice. for us, it's the keys in the apartment door that signal that one or the other is coming home.
Pedo greets us with excitement all the time...definitely makes you feel welcomed.
awww, that's so cute! i use to do that with g until baby was born, haha! maybe when n is older.
Steve and I still greet each other at the garage door, whoever gets home first. The door will swing wide open and I'm greeted with a big smile and hug. =)
when you are blessed with kids, teach them to dance a happy dance when either parent returns home! and to get the ball rolling, you can teach sam to dance for you too! :D

awww! My family does that too, and I felt kinda weird when my college roommates didn't make a big deal out of coming home at all.
Hannah does that whenever she hears the garage door open. She knows "Papa" is home. She will run to the door and wait for "Papa" to enter. It is so cute.
