  • S is installing a new kitchen counter at home today. When his Dad heard, he got all excited and said, "I can help!... I have tools!... I'll take a day off!..." He's built 2 homes from scratch before, he's the handiest man I personally know. But he's also in his 70s so we don't want him moving heavy stuff or doing hard work. We told him thanks but it's okay.

But what do you know, bright and early in the morning, *ding dong*. It's S's Dad, pumped and ready to work!

He also looked in our patio and saw wood beams to replace the current ones. "I can do this, too!"

I hope no one gets hurt. But I'm so touched that he's so excited and happy to help us.

I never thought I'd ever say this but "I can't wait to wash dishes again!"

  • I'm in Taiwan! Hi, S!

I'm sleeeppy... but fighting it so I can sleep later at night.

We flew into Taipei then took the bullet train to Tainan. My eyes wanted to close up on me on the ride down but they also wanted to take in the scenary of the country. I can't believe it's been 18 years since I was last here. It's been 23 years that we've been here as a family.

My aunt went out on her scooter to get us boba! Yeah!
She used to draw us pictures to placate us when we were little.

  • I love lotions. I used to go into Bath & Body Works and walk out with a big bag of stuff and smelling like a weird mixture of scents. I was a lotion hoarder. But nowadays I just use Cetaphil, it's unscented and a great lotion.

I went to B&BW yesterday to purchase gifts for my cousins in Taiwan.

Did you know that they've discontinued "Country Apple" and "Sun-Ripened Raspberry"??!! Preposterous!!! To me, that's like McDonald's not selling french fries!

There's a sale right now b/c sometimes they'll bring back "The Classics". Why would you discontinue a classic?! There's all these new smells now... but nothing that stands out.

Fortunately, I think you can still get them on-line. Well, not that I use them anymore...

Anyway, this is just wrong. I'm all worked up over lotion.

  • I ate a lot this weekend! Must not do that every weekend! Yay for Fathers.

My Dad is so nice to me. He knows I like to eat a certain snack he makes. So everytime I go over, he'll make it for me. And if they're out, he'll go to the market and buy it for me.
S's Dad also likes to feed me. He likes to sit and smile at me and laugh at things I say.

The eating-fest will continue when we head over to Taiwan. Please, no diarrhea!

I haven't been on a longer vacation for a few years now. Though it's only a week, my insides feel like there are a lot of little people partying in there. I'm really excited!

    Looking forward to:
    Family
    Visiting our old family home
    Night markets
    Boba
    Korean music

  • I ran into Roy, a friend from high school, last week at a gas station.

In college, he introduced me to Korean music and made me mixed tapes of his favorite songs. (I wonder where I put them.) The only phrase I could recognize was "saranghae" but one does not necessarily need to understand the words to enjoy the music. It was a short phase and then I started listening to Chinese music… you know, that finding-your-roots phase. That's since been on and off.

These last couple years or so, I was suddenly thrown into Korean dramas and found myself totally addicted!! And with Korean dramas come Korean music...

So my latest obsession is Big Bang! Yes, they are a boy band and they are all like 10 years younger than me, but I don't care.

After seeing Roy last week, I dreamt that he was either a member of Big Bang or knew them personally. So I got to go back stage and meet them! It was so exciting! I don't remember how we communicated, but it was fun. We even got to take pictures. But then my camera stopped working. And then I woke up… boooo….

I sent Roy an email thanking him for introducing me to Big Bang. Hahaha.
I'm pretty sure I'll never see them in real life so to dream of such a meeting is good enough for me.

  • We share a wall with our neighbor. Our noisy neighbor.
Unfortunately it's their living room wall and our bedroom wall.
Unfortunately this guy is up all night and sleeps in the day.
When I go to sleep he blasts his TV.
That's how I heard Hillary's speech, learn about animals in the forest…
Tornadoes wrecking havoc, the record cold June in parts of Washington…
Lying down on my bed seems to activate his TV?

I wish I could get a hold of his remote control.
    That would be very amusing.

  • Overheard at the Rheumatologist office today:

Nurse: How is your friend doing?
Patient: You mean my friend, Arthur? Arthur Ritis?
    Nurse: Yes.
    Patient: Not too bad.
Nurse: That's good. Oh, I have a friend, too. His name is Ben, Ben Gay.

    Funny people.

    Speaking of "Patient"...

I went to the library the other day to check out some CDs. A moody Asian girl was stamping the due date on the CDs when a little boy came over and said, "Excuse me". Moody Asian Girl snaps, "You have to wait! I'm with a patient right now."

    I'm a library patient?

  • Sometimes when I work from home, I'll have music on or the TV on.

Days of Our Lives is on right now. This soap has been running forever! Time passes so slowly on these shows. One day in their life could drag out for a week or more in ours. But then their toddlers will become teenagers in a few of our summers. It seems only children age, but not adults. Some weird time warp in their land.

I went to one of S's fundraisers yesterday and saw one of the actresses there! I don't know her real name, but her TV name is Chelsea Brady. It was neat seeing someone from TV in person. She looks exactly the same.

We went out for a bite before heading home. It felt like prom.

  • I got filmed today. I had to prepare a script and memorize it.

Our company has an annual meeting for all the Sales people. I support them in terms of the Siebel trade system they use in order to run their business. I'm so bummed I can't go to finally meet them in person. But I'd much rather be in Taiwan with my family though it's going to be like vacationing in a steam room. So we put together a short clip of myself which will be shown at the meeting.

filmWhen I asked my co-worker to be my camera man, he asked:

    1) What are you going to talk about?
    2) What are you going to wear?
    3) Are you going to wear your glasses?

What? He acts like my girlfriend sometimes. Funny.

So I woke up early today to film before most people get in. Oy, I'm so tired now.
Also had to wake up earlier to put on nice eye makeup. I almost forgot how to do it since I've been hiding behind my glasses for more than a year now. Hello mascara, hello white eyeliner… I've missed you guys.

We were done after two takes. It looks pretty good.

Taiwan in 2 weeks! Ahhh, I'm super excited! Any suggestions what we should bring back as gifts?
